Lady Tigers win Huntsville tourney title

Hartselle starts season 4-0, Roberts shines on mound

HUNTSVILLE -The Hartselle Lady Tigers opened the 2004 season with a great four-game performance and captured the championship of the Huntsville High Invitational.
Hartselle 3, Grissom 2
In the opening game, the defending 5A state champs topped last year's 6A runner-up Grissom by the count of 3-2.
Hartselle trailed 2-1 going into the final inning when RBIs by Rachel Davidson and Jessica Lyle gave the Lady Tigers the lead.
Sabrina Roberts picked up the win throwing a complete game.
Roberts allowed seven hits and walked two while striking out two.
Hartselle 7, Arab 1
A six-run third inning powered Hartselle past Arab in their second outing of the season. Shan Jones, Whitley Collins and Jessica Lyle contributed RBIs.
Collins and Lyle both went two-for-two at the plate while Alison Lyle was two-for-three. Shan Jones scored twice for the Lady Tigers.
J.J. Lawrimore threw a three-hitter to pick up the win. She struck out nine batters while allowing only a single run.
Hartselle 7, Huntsville 0
The Lady Tigers whipped the tourney hosts in the semi-finals to go 3-0 on the season.
Jessica Lyle picked up the win throwing five innings of two-hit ball while striking out seven.
Jessica Lyle went four-for-four and drove in two runs. Anna Byrd, Sarah Whitlow, Sabrina Roberts and Rachel Davidson each had two hits.
Lyle and Roberts had two RBIs while Byrd and Whitlow scored twice.
Hartselle 15, Albertville 0
The Lady Tigers got a dominating performance from pitcher Sabrina Roberts. Roberts struck out 10 batters while allowing only one hit to improve her record to 2-0.
At the plate, the Hartselle bats produced 18 hits. Shan Jones and Rachel Carden drove in three runs each.
Ashley Wiseheart was three-for-three and scored three times. Carden and Roberts both doubled twice and scored two runs each.
