Falkville takes two from Vinemont

FALKVILLE – They must not enjoy playing very much — they end their games early.
For the second time this season, the Falkville softball team played a three-inning game because of the 15-run mercy rule. In the second game of Monday's doubleheader with Vinemont, the Lady Blue Devils scored five runs in the first and 10 more in the third to take a 15-0 win and complete the two-game sweep.
Falkville 4, Vinemont 2
Sophomore Heather Ricks struck out 15 Lady Eagles on the way to her sixth win of the season. Ricks allowed three hits and walked none while yielding two earned runs.
Falkville scored one run in the first, two more in the third and one more in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Vinemont pushed across one run in the sixth inning and one in the seventh before Ricks struck out the last batter. Ashley Williams stole two bases and Katie Ward stole one as Falkville totaled eight steals for the game and 18 for the doubleheader.
Whitney Eaves went 4-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI while stealing three bases.
Amanda Holmes was 2-for-4 while scoring once and driving in one run and stealing one base. Ashlie Mayer went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Katrina Wildmon and Haley Anders had one hit each, Wildmon had one RBI while Anders scored once.
Falkville 15, Vinemont 0
Heather Ricks struck out three, allowed only one hit and walked none while improving to 7-5 this season.
Whitney Eaves went 2-for-2 to end the doubleheader a perfect 6-for-6. Eaves scored twice with a RBI double. Eaves also stole three bases. Katrina Wildmon, Ashlie Mayer and Ricks each went 2-for-3. Wildmon scored twice and drove in two runs. Mayer stole three bases and scored once while Ricks drove in four and scored twice.
Amanda Holmes walked twice while driving in one run and scoring once and stealing one base. Savannah Story had a RBI double and scored once. Ashley Williams drove in a run with a walk and stole a base. Katie Ward had one hit, scored once and stole a base.
Katie Annerton scored twice as a pinch runner.
Falkville is now 7-7 on the season.
