Bulldogs advance to sub-state playoffs

For the second straight season the Priceville Bulldogs are heading to the state baseball playoffs. With a 14-3 win over Lexington Saturday in a tiebreaker game, the Bulldogs claimed the runner-up spot in 2A-Area 15. The win puts the Bulldogs in the sub-state round of the playoffs as they travel to Sumiton Christian.
"Our goal was to make the playoffs," Shane Alexander said. "This is my first year here. They went last year when they won the area."
Priceville 14, Lexington 3
Dustin Hamilton threw five innings of six-hit ball to pick up the win. Hamilton struck out five and allowed only one earned run while improving to 6-3 this year.
Daniel Price, Rand Hutchison, Hunter Teague, Cody Allen and Hamilton each collected two hits. Price hit two solo home runs while Hamilton had one. Teague scored twice and drove in one while Allen scored three times.
Hutchison and Allen had doubles.
The win improved the Bulldogs to 19-12 this season.
Priceville 18, Clements 4
Daniel Price picked up the win for the Bulldogs striking out six in five innings. Price is now 6-1 on the season.
Dale Taylor went 3-for-5 including a solo home run and scored four times.
Dustin Hamilton was also 3-for-5 with a triple, two singles and drove in three runs. Alex Cannon was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored three times. Cody Allen was 3-for-6 including a RBI double and scored twice.
The win upped the Priceville record to 18-12 this season.
