Funeral for Julious Carden, 71, of Decatur was Friday, April 16, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Jake Yarbrough officiating.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Carden died Monday, April 12, 2004, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Marion County to Roy S. Carden and Harriet Gowder Carden. He served with honors in the U.S. Armed Forces as an M.P. during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Florence State Teachers College, now the University of North Alabama in Florence. Mr. Carden was highly regarded as one of the finest finance men in his industry and served in various executive capacities which include executive vice president with Security Mutual Finance Corp., leaving the company after more than 30 years of service. He was founder, owner and president of Carden Realty for several years prior to his retirement. Mr. Carden was past president of the Austin Lions Club and served in other numerous civic capacities over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Frederick Carden of Decatur; three sons, Daniel H. Carden and wife Peggy of Hartselle, Gary W. Carden and wife Carol of Somerville and Robert Todd Carden and wife Denise of Decatur; two brothers, Roy Carden Jr. and wife Quoquese and Joe Carden and wife Carol, all of Huntsville; three sisters, Ruth Burfield of Sarasota, Fla., Hazel Downs of Michigan and Evelyn Sartain and husband Aaron of Hamilton; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joel McCaghren, Glenn McMahan, Joe Carden, Don Gowen, Mack Frederick and Bobby Frederick.
