Ethel Curtis Smith

Funeral for Ethel Curtis Smith, 97, of Hartselle was Tuesday, May 4, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerri Hunt officiating.
Burial was in Johnson-Smith Cemetery South of Speake.
Mrs. Smith died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born January 16, 1907, in Lawrence County to George Baxter Curtis and Mary Ellen Parker Curtis. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Smith was a member of Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Hopewell Homemakers Club since 1936. She was a partner and bookkeeper for Smith Excavating Company and an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cordie L. Smith; three grandchildren, Thomas Harden Jr., Barry Wayne Kelso and Marisa Harden; seven brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Woodard and Dorothy S. Martin, both of Hartselle; one sister, Grace Vinson; three grandchildren, Joan Richardson, Kim Allen and Larry Woodard; five great grandchildren, Lisa Segars, Brent Harden, Amy Terry, Brian Woodard and Jason Woodard; and one great great grandchild, Austin Segars.
Pallbearers were Amon Curtis, Cadle Wilburn, Tim Curtis, Jerry Vinson, Charles Curtis and Dennis Curtis.
