Funeral for J. P. Moore, 65, of Hartselle was Monday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Alred officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. The eulogy was given by lifelong friend Billy Gibson of Sea Island, Ga.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Moore died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1938, in Morgan County to Sherrill Moore and Louella Whitten Moore. He was retired from the State of Alabama Department of Agriculture. He was a beloved church and choir member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Moore loved his church, family and community, especially Hartselle High Athletics. He would rather spend a bad day fishing than a good day working. He was preceded in death by a son, John Paul Moore, a brother, Vaughn R. Moore, and a sister, Freda Mae Moore.
He is survived by one son, Robert Moore and wife, Caroline, of Florence; one daughter, April Vinzant of Hartselle; one brother, James F. Moore and wife Nita, of Fontana, Calif.; two sisters, Dorstor Ann Rodgers and husband Steve, of Hartselle and Jacquelyn Buoneristiani and husband Larry, of West Covina, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Jonathan Moore and Anna Lea Moore, of Florence, and Courtney, Heather, and Abbey Vinzant, all of Hartselle.
Pallbearers were nephews and friends.
