Funeral for Franklin E. "Frank" Slaten Sr., 64, of Decatur was Monday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ralph Henderson and Travis Slaten officiating.
Burial was in Cheatham Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Mr. Slaten died Friday, May 7, 2004, at his residence. He was born Aug. 31, 1939, in Morgan County to Street Willis Wise Slaten and Claytie Mae Norris Slaten. He was a machinist and tool and die maker for 47 years. He worked for Slaten Machine Shop in Falkville, Air Dro Cylinders and Defco, of Decatur and ITW Shakeproof in Engin, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Edna Hall and Jessie Turrentine and two brothers, Tennis Slaten and Albert Adair.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Slaten of Decatur; two sons, Franklin E. Slaten, Jr. and Kenneth Wayne Slaten; two daughters, Shelia Diane Slaten and Rhonda Kay Slaten Brown; two brothers, Richard Slaten and Roy Slaten; one sister, Eloise Slaten; grandchildren, Krissy, Rachel, Mickey, Boomer, David, Sissy, Tonya, Donna, Sumer, Dakota, Trever, Kaitlin and Gunner; and great grandchildren, Amber, Alyssa, Kianna, Amya, Christen and Austin.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Valley, Decatur, AL or to American Cancer Society.
