Staff Reports, Hartselle Enquirer
An alleged drunken brawl in Lacey's Spring ended with the death of one man and murder charges for another.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, on May 22 at 10:56 p.m. dispatchers received a call of a fight at 1750 Highway 231 South, a mobile home park located in Lacey's Spring. At the scene, deputies were led to the residence of Franco Conde Eslava, 28. Deputies noticed he had what appeared to be bloodstains on his feet and clothing.
While he was being questioned, deputies found Leovardo Eslava Sandoval, 40, near his residence. He had been beaten and later died at the scene.
Investigators and translators on the scene determined the two men were uncle and nephew and allegedly had been drinking heavily. Investigators believe the fight broke out after Sandoval apparently insulted Eslava's mother and wife.
Eslava is charged with murder and an autopsy is being performed on Sandoval to determine the cause of death.
