Resident: Road needs clear view, signals

A former patrolman from Tennessee said a local road is a danger for drivers and those who live near it.
Larry Norman said he's concerned about the intersection of Tunsel and Nethery Roads near West Hartselle Baptist Church. Tunsel Road curves and the entrance to Nethery sits immediately beyond the curve.
Some small branches and shrubbery decrease the sight distance around the curve from the stop sign on Nethery.
"There have been many accidents on the curve before the intersection, especially when it rains," Norman said.
He said he contacted Mayor Clif Knight and the County Commission about the problem but is still waiting for an answer.
"They said they would look into it. It's been awhile and nothing has been done," Norman said.
Because of development in the area, the intersection and surrounding land was recently annexed into the city of Hartselle.
Norman said he wants to make sure drivers stay safe and suggests trimming some branches and shrubs that limit sight around the curve. He also suggests a stop sign or blinking caution light.
