Lumberjacks back for Depot Days

It's hard to believe that summer activities are wrapping up and fall is just around the corner.
In preparation for this change many things are happening around us. The ball teams are gearing up for a great season, AYSO soccer will soon begin, the band students are playing and marching, the teachers are preparing for this years' onslaught of students and the Chamber is busy planning for its upcoming events.
Here are a few of the activities that we are currently working on.
We are excited that the ad sales for the new updated Chamber Directory and Newcomer Guide are in full swing.
This book will be provided free to anyone requesting it, mailed in relocation packets, given to newcomers, etc. and will be updated every 24 months. All chamber members will be listed categorically and alphabetically. If you are interested in placing an ad in this directory and have not been contacted yet, please call the chamber at 773-4370 or Monty Simmons at 1-888-621-6321 x213 to make an appointment.
The Hartselle Development Board is hosting a meeting for property owners at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12 at the Depot. Scott McLain, a developer and realtor, will be the guest speaker.
A Political Forum is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Aug. 16 at the Sparkman Civic Center. You are encouraged to come "Meet &Greet" the candidates at 5:30 p.m., and hear their platform, so that you can become a more informed voter.
The Depot Days committee is working hard to make this the biggest and best Depot Days Festival ever. We will begin the week on Oct. 3 with a series of concerts.
The concerts will begin at 2 p.m. with old time gospel quartets, bluegrass, etc. and progress through the afternoon to conclude with the contemporary Christian groups – Nate Sallie with special guest Across the Sky (recently nominated for a Dove Award) and Silers Bald. This will ensure a music style for everyone. Monday nights Down Memory Lane has a theme this year of "Old Time Religion" and they are lining up some special events for the evening. Thursday night will be the final Music in the Park for this year and we will end with a bang as Microwave Dave and the Nukes come to Hartselle to fill the air with award winning Jazz and Blues.
The festival on Saturday promises to be the best yet. The famous Sheer's Lumberjack Shows are returning to Hartselle for three shows, we have returning vendors and new vendors lining up to serve you. We will strive to continue the festivals reputation of being one of the "Top 20 Events in the Southeast."
