Luther Hewlett Roberts

A graveside service for Luther Hewlett Roberts, 67, of Berea, Ky., formerly of Hartselle, will be Thursday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Roberts died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at Jackson County Hospital. He was born July 20, 1937, in Morgan County to Luther Edward Roberts and Katherine Hewlett Roberts. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hartselle. He coached youth sports for many years in Hartselle and helped establish the first sports program at Plainview School. He operated a family clothing business in Hartselle, Decatur and Huntsville for a number of years. He and his wife spent their most recent years in Kentucky where he worked as a retail merchant and a horse trainer.
He is survived by his wife, Gaylia Roberts of Berea, Ky.; two sons, Butch Roberts and wife Myra of Hartselle and Dr. Brian Roberts and wife Cindy of Huntsville; step-mother, Mabel Roberts of Hartselle; one brother, Tommy Ed Roberts of Hartselle; one sister, Edna Carol Weeks of Hartselle; and four grandchildren, Kelly, Nathan, John and Elizabeth Roberts.
