Funeral for Dorothy McCaghren Puckett, 87, of Danville was Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. at Johnson Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Salter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Puckett died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at her residence. She was born May 25, 1917, in Morgan County to Walter D. McCaghren and Ann E. Hagood McCaghren. She was married for nearly 50 years to Leo Franklin Puckett. Mrs. Puckett was a lifelong resident of the Johnson Chapel community and was a member of Johnson Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in the United Methodist Women. Her passions were church, reading, gardening and enjoying her many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a granddaughter, Laura Jane Hill.
She is survived by two daughters, Catherine Hill and husband Hollis of Birmingham, and Carolyn Marshall and husband Tom of Danville; two sisters, Ruth Morris of Hartselle and Mavis Fitzgerald and husband Hugh of Danville; nine grandchildren, Emily Hill Barrett and husband John, Scott Hill, Amy Hill Sellers and husband Steve, Martha Hill Catchings and husband Ben, Valerie Marshall Barnett, Bill Marshall and wife Marla, Paul Marshall and wife Lisa, Noni Marshall Jewellson, and Frankie Marshall Jacobs and husband Brent; 19 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Pallbearers were grandsons and great grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley or to Johnson Chapel United Methodist Church.
