Knight rejoins Enquirer staff

Former Hartselle Enquirer editor and partner Clif Knight has rejoined the newspaper staff in a part-time editorial position. He retired in 2000 after a 39-year career in newspaper work and served as Hartselle's mayor for four years.
Knight will assume reporting and photo responsibilities in news, sports and features for both the Enquirer and its sister publication, the Madison Record, and will assist in special projects.
"We're pleased he's back," said Leada Gore, publisher and editor. "Knight's background and experience as a reporter and photographer will add depth to our editorial department and enable us to produce a more interesting and informative newspaper."
"I feel like I'm back at home," Knight said." "It's exciting to again have the opportunity to cover the happenings in Hartselle and Morgan County. I have some catching up to do with my writing and photography skills but I look forward to the challenge. I welcome the opportunity to hear from readers about their ideas for news and feature stories."
Knight was associated with the Enquirer for over 34 years prior to his retirement. He started his newspaper career in Aberdeen, Miss., and moved to Hartselle with his family in 1961 to join the Enquirer staff as associate editor. He left the newspaper in 1966 and served as plant editor for the former Monsanto Company in Decatur. He rejoined the Enquirer in 1970 as editor/partner.
He is an Alabama native and a graduate of the University of Alabama.
