Funeral for Charles E. Mahaffey, 86, of Hartselle was Saturday, Oct. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Blackmon officiating.
Burial was in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mr. Mahaffey died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at his residence. He was born July 15, 1918, in Morgan County to John C. Mahaffey and Annie Kimbrough Mahaffey. He was a member of East Highland Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he received three Bronze Stars. He retired from the Morgan County Courthouse where he served as bailiff to Judge Newton Powell, Judge Rudolph Slate and Judge Steve Haddock.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Self Mahaffey of Hartselle; one son, Wayne Mahaffey and his wife Barbara; one stepson, Ivan Self and his wife Anita; three stepgranddaughters, Jennifer Williams and her husband, Troy, Kara Slaten and her husband, Todd, and Roxanne Crisler and her husband, Hiram; four great granddaughters, Madison Slaten, Lacey Slaten, Masie Williams and Georgia Williams; one great grandson, Brody Crisler; and one sister, Clara Hawk.
Pallbearers were Todd Slaten, Troy Williams, Hiram Crisler, George Dutton, Milton Mahaffey and Doyle Ward.
