Jan. 27, 1955 – Dr. C. B. Lavender is very seriously ill at Hartselle Hospital. Dr. Lavender was a physician in Birmingham from 1923-1949. In the latter year he joined the practice of his son here.
Jan. 28, 1955 – Bobby Cain is currently developing a speech entitled, "The Constitution in Our Everyday World," which he will deliver as part of the American Legion oratorical contest.
Jan. 28, 1955 – Jack R. McClanahan has returned to his duty post in South Korea following a week's leave in Tokyo. McClanahan entered the military in November of 1953 and has been stationed in Korea since May. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold McClanahan.
Jan. 29, 1955 – MCHS senior Billy Evans and County Education Superintendent Lester Wooten boarded the northbound train for Washington today. Both will testify regarding school needs before the Senate Committee on Labor and Public Welfare. Young Evans will address the subject from a student's perspective-"Where I Go to School."
Jan. 30, 1955 – L. T. Wagnon, Morgan County agent based in Hartselle, is having frequent invitations to speak in surrounding rural communities about ways to improve farm life.
Jan. 30, 1955 – Fred A. Bennett, Jr., a private first class in the U.S. Army, will be posted soon to the Alaska General Depot. Private Bennett graduated from Auburn last year.
Jan. 31, 1955 – Mrs. L. H. (Leatha) Houston is a member of the Royal Horticulture Society of London. She is a recent president of Hartselle's Crepe Myrtle Garden Club.
Feb. 1, 1955 – Phil Wasson is the newest member of the Morgan County Board of Education. Mr. Wasson is the proprietor of Green and Stein Furniture Company and the husband of Mrs. Grayce Wasson, one of Hartselle's most superb teachers.
Feb. 2, 1955 – Hal Butler is very active in Methodist youth work in Hartselle. He recently helped plan a successful rally held at Central Methodist in Decatur.
