Memorial service for the Rev. Leetus Williams Yount, 90, of Hartselle will be Friday, Feb. 4, at 1 p.m. at First Church of God in Hartselle with the Rev. Greg Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery on Tuesday, Feb. 1.
Rev. Leetus Williams Yount died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at her residence. She was born Oct. 15, 1914, in Morgan County to Richard and Mattie Willis Williams. She was salutatorian for her Morgan County High School Class of 1932. She graduated from Anderson University, where she was a top student and earned a master teacher degree from Kent State University. She met her husband, Otto, at Anderson University in 1935 and they were married in 1942. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2002. The Yount's lived many years in Ohio where she taught elementary grades and played piano and organ professionally. They moved back to Alabama 22 years ago. They have served in churches in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama.
Rev. Leetus Williams Yount is survived by her husband, the Rev. Otto R. Yount of Hartselle; two daughters, Joyce of Panama City, Fla. and Montana when she is not traveling with her husband, jazz clarinetist, Buddy DeFranco, and Carol Bond lives in Opelika, where she has charge of music for her church; and two sisters, Geneva Williams and Clora Williams, both of Anderson, Ind; and three grandchildren, Chad DeFranco, Derrick Bond and Russell Bond.
Honorary pallbearers will be ministers.
