4-H cookbook in making; favorite recipes are needed

A Morgan County 4-H cookbook, celebrating the organization's present and future, is on track to be published in April as an alternative funding source for the program in Morgan County.
The cookbook will consist of approximately 800 recipes, a historic section on the 4-H program, a profile on past and present 4-H agents and vintage photos of past 4-H activities.
"We're still gathering material and we welcome contributions from anyone who has been touched by the 4-H program in the past," said Julie Dutton, Morgan County extension coordinator. "So far, we've collected about 600 recipes but we'd like to have about 800. We also need old photos to help document the work of 4-H in the county since 1925."
Dutton said copy and photos for the cookbook will go to the printer later this month.
"We will accept contributions until March 15," she pointed out. Recipes and other materials may be submitted by email to jdutton@aces.edu, mailed to Morgan County Extension System, P.O. Box 98, Hartselle, AL 35640, or dropped off at the Extension office.
The cookbook will be packaged in an easel-back loose-leaf binder. It will be distributed through book stores and antique shops and also will be available at the Extension office.
It will be priced at $20.
Proceeds will be used to help the 4-H program in the county. "We have made a commitment to keep one 4-H agent assigned to Morgan County. Money from the cookbook will help us achieve that goal," Dutton stated.
"We hope to get the cookbooks back from the printer in time to promote then as ideal gifts for Mother's Day," Dutton said. "If that doesn't happen, we will introduce them in August in conjunction with the 4-H program's 100th anniversary."
