Lady Tigers whip Russellville, Cullman

The Hartselle Lady Tigers downed Russellville and Cullman last week.
Hartselle 11, Russellville 0
Hartselle scored three runs in the opening inning, added one more in the second and put the game away with a six-run third. The game opened 5A, Area 16 play for both teams.
Elizabeth Stejskal picked up the win with five innings of three-hit ball while striking out five batters.
At the plate, Shanice Johnson had a single, a double, scored once and drove in four runs.
Stejskal had two hits, including a triple, scored once and drove in two, while Sarah Whitlow was three-for-four with a double, scored twice and had two RBIs. Whitley Collins had two hits, scored three times and had a RBI.
Hartselle 13, Cullman 3
Mary Curtis threw six innings of three-hit ball to collect the win. Curtis struck out six and allowed only two earned runs.
Cullman took a 2-0 lead in the second inning aided by a Lady Tiger error. However, the Hartselle bats began to come in the next three innings as the Lady Tigers pushed across seven runs to take control. Cullman answered with one run in the top of the sixth, but Hartselle won by the mercy rule as they scored five runs in the bottom of the frame.
Catie Keel had two hits, scored once and drove in tow runs, while Haley Miller had a double, scored twice and drove home three runs. Jessica Barbrey scored twice and drove in one, while Kayla Orr had one hit, scored once and had a RBI.
The win upped the Lady Tigers record to 3-4 this year.
