Hartselle baseball coach second on AHSAA list

Coach William Booth knew the game could mean his 600th career win, but he didn't know about the T-shirts. The Hartselle Tiger baseball players had T-shirts with 600 wins printed on them.
"He was really surprised by the T-shirts," Hartselle senior Justin Youngblood said. "You could tell by the look on his face."
The win improved Booth's career record to 600-170 in his 18th season as the Tigers' coach. With the victory, Booth becomes the second coach at an AHSAA team to win 600 games. He trails only Vestavia Hills' coach Sammy Dunn, who finished his career with 647 wins.
Hartselle 5, Minor 1
Zach Smith improved to 3-2 with six-innings of three-hit ball. Smith struck out five and walked none during the historic win at the Hoover Invitational Tournament. Chase Lusk pitched the seventh allowing one hit.
At the plate, Hunter Brasher had a hit and scored a run, while Chris Wiley had a double and scored once.
Justin Hargett was two-for-three with a RBI and a run scored, while Jordan Parker had a hit and a RBI. Joe McClanahan had one hit and scored once, while Michael Scott had two hits, including a double and Kris Berry had a single.
The Tigers improved to 16-11 overall.
Grissom 8, Hartselle 7
In a game earlier in the week, Seth Watson took the loss throwing four innings, while slipping to 1-3. Jacob Wray and Alex Agee threw one inning each in relief.
The Tiger hitters were led by Brasher with a double, while Wiley had a double and scored twice.
Ja'Cote Ward had a hit and scored twice, while Parker was three-for-four with a three-run triple and scored one run.
Watson had one hit, scored once and drove in two runs.
Scott had one hit. Hartselle slipped to 14-9 overall.
Hartselle 5, Pickering, Canada 4
Keith McCaghren threw six-and-one-third innings of five-hit ball to record the win and even his record at 2-2.
He struck out six and walked only one. Andrew Reeves threw two-thirds of an inning and picked up his second save of the season.
At the plate, Brasher and Parker had one hit and scored once, while Hargett had a double. Alex Thompson had a single.
Hartselle improved to 15-9.
Hoover 7, Hartselle 3
Kris Russell took the loss and slipped to 4-2.
Russell threw six innings, allowed eight hits and struck out three.
Parker led the Tiger hitters with two RBIs, while Watson had another RBI.
Brasher had one hit and scored once, while Berry, McClanahan and Parker had one hit each.
Hartselle slipped to 15-10.
Cullman 5, Hartselle 2
Reeves slipped to 5-2 despite throwing six innings of five-hit ball.
Reeves walked two and struck out two more. Watson threw one inning and struck out one.
At the plate, Wiley had one hit and scored once, while Watson had one hit and one RBI. Berry added one more hit.
The loss put the Tigers at 15-11 on the year.
