The power of one
If you're ever in doubt about the power of one person to make a change, we hope you read the stories in this week's Progress section.
This year, we decided to focus on those who make a contribution to our community. They are not necessarily the people whose work lands them on the front page, but are those who have made a difference in the lives of others.
Their contributions vary. Some are volunteers at community programs, others serve through their churches. Some work for the city to make our lives safer and our neighborhoods cleaner, others give their time to our children and our schools. Some collect items for the less fortunate, others make sure those who need those items receive them.
Some are younger, some are older. Some have been quietly doing their work for years, others are newcomers to the area of service. No matter what the circumstances, they are all examples of the power that one person has to make their community and their world a better place.
