High school softball and baseball reports

Due to bad weather, only a light schedule of softball games were played in the area.
Speake 7, Falkville 0
The Lady Blue Devils lost despite a good pitching performance by freshman newcomer Sarah Champion.
Champion threw six innings, allowing only four hits and one earned run, while stirking out four.
At the plate, Whitney Eaves had a single and stole a base, while Katrina Wildmon and Savannah Story each had a hit.
Athens Bible 10, Falkville 3
Sarah Champion took the loss, while allowing only two earned runs in three and one-third innings.
Savannah Story threw one and two-thirds innings of no-hit ball to finish up.
Brittney Key had two hits for Falkville, including a double while driving in one run and scoring once.
Eaves had a hit and a RBI, while Story and Katie Ward each had a hit. Megan and Brooke Hill each went one-for-two.
Mt. Hope 5, Falkville 4
Falkville trailed 5-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, when they rallied for four runs and had the winning runs in scoring position at second base before a running catch ended the game.
Katie Ward came up with two outs and runners at second and third and hit a looping liner to right center which the Mt. Hope center fielder caught just below her knees after a long run to end the game.
Champion threw all five innings and allowed five hits and three earned runs.
At the plate, Story and Wildmon had two hits and one RBI each.
Story had a double, while Champion and Eaves each had RBI singles.
Brewer 7, Holly Pond 3
Tosh Mayes threw five and two-thirds innings of relief to pick up the win. Mayes allowed four hits and struck out three.
Megan Brown started and threw one and one-third innings allowing two earned runs and fanning two.
At the plate, Brown had one hit, one run and drove in two, while Taylor Holt had one hit.
McKinsey Stump and Jessica Henderson each had one hit and scored a run.
Arab 3, Brewer 1
Mays threw one inning allowing five hits and three runs to take the loss.
Brown threw six innings of relief and stuck out seven and allowed two hits.
Henderson had the Lady Patriots only RBI, while Brown and Holt each had a hit.
Priceville 8, Falkville 3
Emily Childers threw seven innings of four-hit ball to pick up the victory as the Lady Bulldogs remained unbeaten in 2A, Area 14 play. Childers struck out six.
For Priceville, Sara Parker was three-for-three with a run scored, while Sumer Boyd had two hits. Stephanie Hardiman had a double and scored once, while Casey Chandler had one hit and scored twice.
Caitlin Williams had one hit and scored twice. Jessica Hopper had one hit and scored once.
For Falkville, Key had a hit and scored once, while Wildmon had a hit and a RBI. Story had a double and scored a run, while Ward had a RBI-double.

Priceville improved to 18-10 overall and 3-0 in area play.
High school baseball report
Falkville clinched another postseason berth. Priceville has also clinched a trip to the state playoffs, while Danville has to wait and see the outcome of the Hanceville-Vinemont series to see if they will advance to the postseason.
Scottsboro 12, Brewer 4
Matt Anderson threw five innings and took the loss, while Randall McCutcheon threw the final two innings.
At the plate, Anderson had two doubles and drove in two runs while scoring one in a four-run second inning for the Patriots. Kyle Crawford had two hits and scored one run, while Travis Boyd had a double and a solo home run. Eric Parker had a hit and scored, while Chris Humphries and Chris Holeman had one hit each. Holeman's base hit was a double.
Hazel Green 10, Brewer 1
Eric Parker took the loss. He threw five innings of six-hit ball and struck out one.
At the plate, Holeman, Crawford, Lucas Wilson and Cody Maples each had one hit. Holeman's hit was a double.
Jameson Pugh scored the Patriots run.
Falkville 16, Cleveland 14
The Blue Devils trailed by 11 runs entering the bottom of the fourth inning, but would come back with four runs in the fame, followed by five runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to grab the win.
The win improved Falkville to 4-0 in 2A, Area 12 play and 13-6 overall.
Kevin Russell threw the sixth and seven innings to pick up the win.
Thomas Holt started for the Blue Devils and threw two and two-thirds innings, followed by Zach Moore and Brad Vest.
At the plate, Cody Simpson had one hit, one RBI, two walks and scored three runs, while Vest had one hit, one RBI, three walks and scored four runs. Kevin Russell had two hits, including a double, drove in two and scored four times.
Bobby Holladay had one hit, scored one run and drove in two, while Todd Russell had two hits, including a three-run homer and drove in four runs.
Jeff Grandstaff had one hit, and scored one run, while Kevin Boroughs had two RBIs.
Frankie Bannister and Jonathan Lacey had one hit and scored one run each.
Falkville 7, Priceville 5
Vest improved to 6-2 by throwing three innings of two-hit relief for starter Holt. Holt threw four innings allowing nine hits and three earned runs.
Vest struck out three and walked two.
At the plate, Boroughs had a RBI-double for the winners, while Holt had a double and drove in three runs.
Moore was two-for-two with two RBIs, while Todd Russell had one hit and scored once. Holladay had one hit and a walk and scored two runs, while Kevin Russell had two hits and one RBI. Vest had a hit and scored once.
Falkville 23, Cleveland 2
Vest improved to 7-2 as the Blue Devils clinched the 2A, Area 12 title for the second straight season.
Falkville assured itself of hosting a first-round playoff game.
Vest threw all five innings and struck out eight, while allowing four hits and one earned run.
Holt and Vest were each three-for-four at the plate, with two RBIs and two runs scored each. Vest had a double, while Boroughs had a three-run homer, his fourth round tripper of the season, and drove in four runs while scoring three times.
Grandstaff had three hits and scored once, while Todd Russell scored two runs and Kevin Russell had a triple and scored once with one RBI.
Simpson had two hits, scored once and drove in one, while Bannister had a hit and scored one run.
Holladay scored two runs, while Lacey and Moore scored one each after drawing a walk. Alex Aldridge had one hit, while Jonathan Ogles walked once and scored one run.
