Ivey, Smith to wed Aug. 20
Dick and Diane Ivey of Bainbridge, Ga. announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Elizabeth Ivey, to Steven William Smith, son of Fred and Sandra Smith of Hartselle.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Bainbridge High School and Auburn University. She is employed as a retirement specialist at Wells Real Estate Funds and is a member of the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association. She is the granddaughter of Raymond and Wynema Miles and Nell Miles, all of Bainbridge, Ga.
The groom-elect is a graduate of Hartselle High School and the University of North Alabama. He is employed as a large group underwriter at Wellpoint, Inc. and is a member of the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association and Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He is the grandson of Rudolph and Jean Smith and Lurline Minor Isley, all of Hartselle, and the late Sam Minor.
The wedding will be held Aug. 20 in Apalachicola, Fla.
Wood, Kelly to wed Aug. 13
Carl and Liz Wood of Valhermoso Springs announce the engagement of their daughter, Amber Marie Wood, to Jonathan Tyler Kelly, son of Bobby and Gena Lamar of Lacey's Spring and John Kelly of Arab.
The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Valhermoso Christian School.
She is employed with Redstone Federal Credit Union.
She is the granddaughter of Dot Wood of Hartselle, Albert and Marlene Wood of Somerville, and Rodney and Hildred Nixon of Dadeville.
The groom-elect is a 2003 graduate of Arab High School. He is employed with Palco Telecom. He is the grandson of Jerry and Marsha Godwin of Grove Oak and Warren Kelly of Arab.
The wedding will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 at 3 p.m. at Valhermoso Baptist Church.
Finch, Lott exchange wedding vows
Katherine Marie Finch and Jonathan Thomas Lott, both of Hartselle, were wed Saturday, June 25, 2005, at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. W.G. Henry officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James R. Finch Sr. of Hartselle. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lott of Hartselle.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a formal gown of diamond white duchess satin accented with lavender embroidery.
The strapless gown was fashioned with a rich embellishment of hand-embroidered flowers and butterflies in a delicate lavender stitch.
A wrapped waistline opened to an apron skirt revealing an underskirt of silk English net, also embellished with embroidery. It swept to an extended train.
Her grand royal cathedral veil of French illusion was bordered with an organza ribbon and delicately embellished with crystals. It was held by a matching bridal bandeau of aurora crystals and rhinestones.
Her round, colonial bouquet featured hand-tied pink roses, Casa Blanca lilies and pink and yellow alestromeria lilies.
Jennie Reid of Cullman was matron of honor and Katie Wiley of Hartselle was maid of honor. Bridal attendants were Bethany Lusk of Hartselle, Lori Smith of Arab, Bradleigh Smith of Bessemer, niece of the bride, Megan Jones of Decatur, and Whitney Wren of Hartselle. They wore A-line, tea length, strapless dresses of ivory with bands of lavender.
Olivia Godsey of Hartselle and Brileigh Hannah of Northport were flower girls. Jeremy Reid of Hartselle was ring bearer.
The groom's father was best man.
Groomsmen were Russ Finch of Hartselle, brother of the bride, Kyle Lott and Bruce Lott of Hartselle, brothers of the groom, Justin Kelso of Hartselle, Dan Lutz of Kentucky, and Jake Long of Moulton.
Ushers were Brent Smith of Bessemer, brother-in-law of the bride, and Josh Metz of Hartselle, cousin of the groom.
Music was provided by Ann Butler of Decatur, Chris Heaps of Hartselle, LeAnn Thrasher of Hartselle, Dr. Ed Nichols of Decatur, and Ricky and Ramona Long of Moulton.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the ministry center.
The bride's table was a half colonnade with an ivory and lilac overlay featuring a three-tier, strawberry and butter cream icing cake adorned with lavender flowers and swirls.
The groom's table featured an assortment of cakes, including German chocolate, chocolate with peanut butter icing, chocolate on chocolate, and yellow with chocolate icing, as well as an assortment of nuts and chocolates.
Wedding directors were Amy Godwin and Sarah Alice Godwin.
Janis Sparkman, Lynda Love, Jan Teer, Susan Crowden, Deborah Aldridge, Sonya Leonard and Tammy Hall assisted with the reception.
Lisa Littrell of Decatur attended the bride's book. Sloan Godsey of Hartselle was the bubble girl.
The couple honeymooned in Belize. They will reside in Tucson, Ariz.
A rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents was held June 24 at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of FUMC.
A bridal luncheon was held June 24 at noon at the home of hostess Pam Pike, co-hosted by Janis Sparkman, Chris Jackson and Wanda McAbee.
