Thirty-two members of the Hartselle swim team advance to State meet in Eufaula

The Hartselle Hurricanes participated at the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association District II swimming championships in Madison July 14-16. Thirty-two members of the team qualified for state competition in Eufaula July 29-30.
To qualify for state competition in an individual event, a swimmer had to beat the pre-set state qualifying time and finish in the top eight at the district meet. To qualify for state competition in a relay event, the team had to finish in the top 10 at district.
State qualifiers for Hartselle were:
Boys 8-and-under – Ian Cummins, first in 25-yard backstroke, fifth in 25-yard butterfly; Jack Coley, eighth in 25-yard breaststroke.
Girls 8-and-under – Tiffany Pittman, second in 25-yard breaststroke, third in 100-yard individual medley, sixth in 100-yard medley relay, sixth in 100-yard freestyle relay; Mary Filiatrault, sixth in 100-yard medley relay, sixth in 100-yard freestyle relay, seventh in 25-yard breaststroke; Alexandra Williams, sixth in 100-yard IM, sixth in 100-yard medley relay, sixth in 100-yard freestyle relay; Marissa Coley, sixth in 100-yard medley relay, sixth in 100-yard freestyle relay.
Boys 9/10-year-old – Grant Stafford, sixth in 200-yard medley relay, seventh in 200-yard freestyle relay; Nathan Roark, sixth in 200-yard medley relay, seventh in 200-yard freestyle relay; Greg Filiatrault, sixth in 200-yard medley relay, seventh in 200-yard freestyle relay; Jake Wayand, sixth in 200-yard medley relay, seventh in 200-yard freestyle relay.
Girls 9/10-year old – Jordan Bruner, first in 50-yard freestyle, third in 50-yard butterfly, third in 100-yard IM, ninth in 200-yard medley relay, 10th in 200-yard freestyle relay;
Aubrey Eve, second in 50-yard breaststroke, ninth in 200-yard medley relay, 10th in 200-yard freestyle relay; Sarah Walker, ninth in 200-yard medley relay, 10th in 200-yard freestyle relay; Peyton Patterson, ninth in 200-yard medley relay, 10th in 200-yard freestyle relay.
Boys 11/12-year-old – Clay Austill, fourth in 50-yard backstroke.
Girls 11/12-year-old – Sarah Roark, eighth in 200-yard medley relay, ninth in 200-yard freestyle relay; Rachel Fredricks, eighth in 200-yard medley relay, ninth in 200-yard freestyle relay; Meaghan Arundel, eighth in 200-yard medley relay, ninth in 200-yard freestyle relay; Faith Vest, seventh in 50-yard backstroke, eighth in 200-yard medley relay, ninth in 200-yard freestyle relay.
Boys 13/14-year-old – Doug Teuscher, sixth in 50-yard breaststroke, seventh in 200-yard freestyle relay; David Filiatrault, seventh in 200-yard freestyle relay; Cameron Koch, seventh in 200-yard freestyle relay; Nathan Austill, seventh in 200-yard freestyle relay.
Girls 13/14-year-old – Kayla Wilson, fifth in 200-yard medley relay, sixth in 50-yard breaststroke, sixth in 200-yard freestyle relay; Katie Kohlenberg, fifth in 200-yard medley relay, sixth in 200-yard freestyle relay; Hayden Watts, fifth in 200-yard medley relay, sixth in 200-yard freestyle relay; Taylor Bean, fifth in 200-yard medley relay, sixth in 200-yard freestyle relay.
