Tourney leaders thank community
Editor:
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the individuals that made the Dixie Softball Ponytail and Belle District Tournament a success in Hartselle this year. This was the first time in a very long time that Hartselle was the host team. The tournament would not have been the success it was without the many hours of work put in by Frank Miller, Chuck Yates and the park and recreation staff. It was a very rainy week and they worked almost around the clock to ensure that the tournament continued and finished on schedule. Some of our Dixie All-Star teams played their District Tournaments on fields that parents and coaches had to maintain. How fortunate Hartselle is to have a quality staff in place to take care of our softball fields. We had several comments from visiting teams about how great our fields and facilities are.
We would also like to thank Beth and Keith Long and Audrey McClanahan for keeping the official books in the press box during the tournament; Chris Stephenson for all of the hours he put in connecting the new sound system and managing the tournament proceeds; Kristen Stephenson for overseeing the concession stand; Shane Alexander and Christy Ferguson for providing their softball players to handle admissions; the Dixie Softball Officers and Commissioners for all their help; and finally the citizens of Hartselle for supporting this event.
Pamela Gray and
Mary McClanahan
Tournament Directors
