Funeral for Robert C. Street, 85, of Decatur was Saturday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Revs. Harold Thompson and Robert Sparkman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Street died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Lincoln County, Tenn., to Eli Street and Lula Campbell Street. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Street was owner and operator of NuWay Cleaners for many years. He served on the Morgan County Board of Education for 24 years and on the Hartselle Utilities Board for 20 years. He was one of the founding members of Hartselle Little League baseball. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Whitten Street.
He is survived by one son, Douglas Street and wife, Dorothy, of Decatur; one brother, Ollie Street of Decatur; one sister, Dody Goforth of Decatur; two granddaughters, Caroline Street Crenshaw and Elizabeth Street Thorn, both of Birmingham; and two great-grandsons, Douglas Reece Crenshaw and Gilbert Taylor Crenshaw.
