Retirees from the city of Hartselle will soon see an increase in their benefits, the first such change in three years.
Hartselle's City Council approved a 4 percent cost of living adjustment for retirees on Tuesday. The increase comes on the heels of a request from the Alabama Retired State Employees Association. The increase will cost the city some $8,789 a year and the amount is included in the city's budget.

The land was changed from no zoning to interstate commercial zoning. The land was recently annexed by the city. The city also annexed land on Mallone Road adjacent to the Thompson Road property.
