Community came together for relief

Our daughter, who is a student at West Alabama University in Livingston, asked us to come and bring food and clothes to the hurricane evacuees who are living on their campus. We decided to take a pickup truck, so we called a few of our friends and neighbors.
With all the promises, we decided we would need a trailer. Through the help of a neighbor, we obtained a covered trailer from First Independent Methodist Church. After the supplies started coming in, we soon decided we needed a larger trailer, so we rented a 16-foot U-Haul trailer.
On Sept. 3, we delivered a truck and trailer full of food, clothes, toys and supplies to 150 people living on campus. The amount donated was overwhelming and very much appreciated. We could not have done it without all the help of our friends and neighbors.
We would like to thank the following for their contributions: Community Baptist Church, Main Street Diner and customers, First Independent Methodist Church, Main Street Thrift Store, Hope's Thrift Store, The Thrift Store, Roberts Auto Sales, Bates Plumbing and Line Cleaning, Cato's, Hometown employees, Cowboys, Slate Framing, Heavenly Treasures, Minnie Bells, Hartselle Antique Mall and Van's Barbershop, bus drivers, F.E. Burleson, Central Office employees, my mother's friends and neighbors, and Kyle Road friends, neighbors and families.
The people were so appreciative of everything we took and asked us to express their thanks to everyone that gave so generously.
