Quarterback Wes Chenault breaks bone in ankle, out for season

As if a 13-10 loss to region opponent Athens wasn't enough, the night ended with the Tigers losing their starting quarterback as well.
With his team trailing 13-10 and a little more than two minutes left in the game, junior Wes Chenault tried to scramble for a first down and was tackled after a gain of one yard on second-and-10.
Chenault appeared to land awkwardly on the ground, and had to be aided by the Hartselle training staff as he left the field.
Chenault broke a bone in his ankle and will be out for the rest of the season. He had surgery Oct. 10.
"It just kind of got twisted up under him from what I understand," Hartselle coach Bob Godsey said. "It's unfortunate because Wes is such a hard worker and you never like to see this sort of thing happen."
Sophomore Tony Weaver, who had a back injury earlier in the season and had been sidelined for a few games, is healthy now and will start for the Tigers against Cullman. Freshman Luke Bole will back up Weaver.
"Tony will be back at practice this week," Godsey said. "We're looking forward to getting him back on the field. Both Tony and Luke have a job to do now."
Chenault finished the 2005 season with three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns and four interceptions. He was a key part of Hartselle's successful rushing attack this season, averaging a little under five yards a carry.
Between them, Weaver and Bole have attempted just three passes this season.
Weaver makes his first start of the season Friday on the road against Cullman in a game that the Tigers need to win to stay in playoff contention.
