Saturday hours are back for patrons of Hartselle Public Library, according to Emily Love, director. Effective Nov. 5, the library began opening from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
The library dropped Saturday hours from its schedule more than three years ago as a cost-cutting measure. However, plans to resume them emerged several months ago when Hartselle City Council opted to remove the library from the Wheeler Basin Regional Library system and operate it solely as an entity of city government.
"This is something we planned all along," said Love. "We have a lot of parents and students who don't have the opportunity to visit the library during the week."
Love also called attention to another new service offered by the library in cooperation with the Alabama Public Library Service. It's called Free Homework Help Online and is available at www.homeworkalabama.org, from 3 p.m.-midnight daily.
Real tutors are available to 4-12 grade students for help in English, math, social studies and science.
