Funeral for Robert Louis Turney, 85, of Somerville will be Thursday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. at Center Springs United Methodist Church with Stacy Turney and Steve Pilkington officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until time for the service.
Mr. Turney died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at his residence. He was born May 21, 1910, in Morgan County to Joseph Fletcher Turney and Clara Breeding Turney. He was a retired farmer and was retired from the Morgan County Exchange. He was a longtime supporter of Center Springs United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Sharp Turney and two daughters, Leta Wynell Turney and Fran Turney Johnson.
He is survived by two sons, Royce Turney and wife Gail Allen and Byron Turney and wife Vickie, all of Somerville; a daughter, Ireta Hogan and husband Lynn of Somerville; six grandchildren, Monesa Johnson Andrews, Kimberly Turney Young, Stacy Turney, Kevin Turney, Tammy Turney and Angelia Turney; six step-grandchildren, Scott Hogan, Tim Hogan, Terry Johnson, Forrest Johnson, Jessica Childers and Jennifer Childers; seven great-grandchildren, Caitlin Andrews, Miles Turney, Graham Turney, McKinley Turney, Olivia Turney, Nathanael Turney and Owen Young; and three step-great-grandchildren, Tyler Hogan, Amber Johnson and Patrick Johnson.
Pallbearers were Scott Young, Scott Hogan, Jim Sharpe, Shannon Turney, Carleton Turney, John Turney, Darron Andrews, Raymond Breeding, Doug Turney, Tim Hogan and Terry Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Men's Sunday School Class at Center Springs United Methodist Church: J.C. Winton, Floyd Sivley, Randolph Sivley, Harold Gentry, Ernest Stewart, Robert Maples and John Allen.
