Canines show off their finest at Cotton Cluster show
Leada Gore, Hartselle Enquirer
For dog owners Joe and Regina Genarella of Pensacola, Fla., there's nothing quite like time spent with their 1-year-old miniature poodle, Jolly Joe.
"If I sit down he hops right up in my lap. He likes to cuddle," Regina said as she stroked Jolly Joe's kinky black fur. Her husband was working on his grooming, making sure each poof of hair was perfectly coiffed.
The Genarellas were among the 1,600 dog owners at last week's Cotton Cluster All Breed Dog Show held at Priceville's Racking Horse Association's Celebration Arena. Owners and their pets competed in two days worth of events, with breeds ranging from basset hounds and border collies to Chihuahuas and chow chows.
Owners, breeders and groomers spent their spare time sprucing up their animals, who sat patiently as their fur was dried, curled, teased or straightened.
The first two days of the event was hosted by the Huntsville Kennel Club Inc. The Decatur Alabama Kennel Club Inc. sponsored the second half of the event.
