Hartselle finished fifth out of 16 teams at the Huntsville Invitational Dec. 2-3.
Bradley Central (Tenn.) won the event, with Scottsboro finishing as runner up. Closing out the top five were third-place Bob Jones and fourth-place Prattville.
"I thought we did fine," Hartselle coach Dan Styles said. "It certainly could have been a lot worse. We've still got a long way to go to get to be the team we want to be."
Brad Eubanks, one of just three seniors on this year's Tiger squad, took home first place in the heavyweight class. He was the only Tiger wrestler to finish in first place at the Huntsville Invitational.
Jake Watkins finished second in the 171-pound division; Dallas Kalber finished third in the 160-pound division and Rico Elliott and Andrew Watson each took fourth place. Elliott competed in the 119-pound division and Watson in the 152-pound division.
Saturday, Hartselle traveled to Clarksville, Tenn., to participate in the Slamfest Duals. The Tigers took seventh place of 16 teams at the event.
Hartselle defeated Colliersville (Tenn.) 43-38, Northeast Clarksville (Tenn.) 45-15 and Hendersonville (Tenn.) 45-24. The Tigers fell to Franklin (Tenn.) 38-31 and Dickson County (Tenn.) by the score of 40-30.
Elliott finished the duals with a perfect 5-0 record and Caleb Blanton, Wes Pevahouse, Dallas Kalber, Andrew Watson and Brad Eubanks each finished with 4-1 records.
The Tigers matched up Tuesday against Sparkman and Athens (results were not available at press time). They also compete Thursday against Buckhorn and Deshler.
Saturday, Hartselle hosts nine teams from Alabama and Tennessee in the Tiger Duals. The event gets underway at 9 a.m. at the Pettey Center.
