Funeral for Bartley Eugene 'Boot' Balch, 68, of Decatur was Monday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Billy Cagle officiating. Burial was in New Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Balch died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born August 5, 1937, in Limestone County to H.E. Balch and Cecile Hunkapillar Balch. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Shelia Earlene Jones and Alma Jean Balch. He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran, cabinet maker and attended Flint Baptist Church. He had a deep abiding love for his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
He is survived by three brothers, Ed Balch and wife Elaine and Robert L. Balch and wife Henrietta, all of Decatur and Paul Balch of Nashville; two sisters, Mary Balch Elliott of Decatur and Anita Balch Halbrooks and husband Tommy of Hartselle; 10 nieces and nephews, 13 great nieces and nephews; and two great great nephews.
Pallbearers were Stanley Jones, Bill Hodges, Chris Hodges, Dustin Balch, Ashley Balch and Matt Balch.
