March 30, 1956 -A program of variety, ranging from popular to semi-classical music, highlighted the spring concert of Director Hollis James's MCHS band tonight. Bobby Adams played a French horn solo while Dale Quillen demonstrated his trombone expertise.
March 30, 1956 -Mrs. Joe Speake provided the commentary at tonight's Easter Parade fashion show presented by the Rainbow Garden Club.
March 31, 1956 -Dr. J. A. Howle, who retired completely from his medical practice some two years ago, recently gave a nice stock of surgical instruments and hospital supplies to Hartselle Hospital.
April 1, 1956 -Billy Mitchell, a popular MCHS student, delivered the message at the First Baptist evening service in observance of youth week. Next Sunday morning, Max Merrill, a UA freshman, will preach. Following tonight's service at Bethel Baptist there was a baptismal service, the baptistery being used for the first time.
April 1, 1956 -A great motion picture that won eight Academy Awards, "On the Waterfront" with Marlon Brando, began a two-day run at Falkville's Mars Theatre today.
April 2, 1956 -Work began today on clearing the site and laying out the foundation for the new Block-Chandler hospital.
April 2, 1956 -Members of First Baptist's Businesswomen's Circle met tonight in the home of Mrs. C. K. Parker.
April 2, 1956 -C. L. Orr, long-time employee of Mitchell Industries, has bought out Tyler Brothers Grocery and took over that business today, operating under the name of C. L. Orr Grocery and Market.
April 3, 1956 -Three pieces of modern new refrigeration equipment are being installed this week by Groover Grocery.
April 4, 1956 -A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Camp at Hartselle Hospital today.
April 4, 1956 -Col. Joe Burleson left Hartselle today to return to his station in France.
April 4, 1956 -Charles Wesley Stewart, now living in Fayetteville, Ark., but formerly a resident of Hartselle, was the guest of relatives and friends in town today.
April 5, 1956 -One person was fined $5 plus $3 in costs for speeding in city police court this week.
