April 20, 1956 -A new Methodist congregation in Hartselle, the Westside Methodist Church, was opened tonight for membership. Thirty joined at this time.
April 21, 1956 -Sarah Ann Thompson, API freshman who is home this weekend, entertained her friends with a midday meal.
April 21, 1956 -Mary Grace Morrow, an outstanding MCTS student who is also state president of the National Homemakers Club, attended the state executive committee meeting held at Tuskegee Institute today.
April 22, 1956 -Hal Butler of Jacksonville State Teachers College returned to the campus this afternoon following a weekend visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Butler.
April 22, 1956 -The highly acclaimed movie "Rebel Without a Cause" starring James Dean will show today and tomorrow at the Strand. Featured co-players are Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo.
April 23, 1956 -Baker &Shaw, contractors for the Hartselle municipal building project, have informed city officials that they will be ready to turn this modern new city headquarters over to the city within the very near future.
April 24, 1956 -A big new contract has been signed by Baker Manufacturing. The other party is Remington-Rand, for whom the local company will produce 160,000 boxes.
April 25, 1956 -Bobby Cain and his Dixie Jubilaires are now featured each Wednesday at 8 p.m. on WMSL-TV (Channel 23). Roberts Brothers Dry Goods, Western Auto, Stone Brothers Lumber, and Joe Wheeler Co-op sponsor the program.
April 25, 1956 -Dr. and Mrs. W. C. Duncan and children are in Little Rock, Ark., this week. They attended a reunion of Dr. Duncan's class on Sunday and this week he is taking a short refresher course at the medical school.
April 26, 1956 -A. A. Oden is the new administrator of the surplus commodity "Free Foodstuffs" program in Morgan County, succeeding Mayor John Burleson. Given his city duties, the mayor was no longer able to devote adequate time to the program.
April 26, 1956 -In the Mor-Co-Hi-Lites school column spotlight this week is a young man noted for "his good looks and wonderful personality"-Skipper Drinkard.
April 26, 1956 -Hartselle's old jail cells are for sale, either as a whole or piecemeal. The new Hartselle municipal building, complete with jail, will soon be occupied, making the old jail and city hall surplus.
