Funeral for Boyd Dennis Lemmond, 87, of Alexander City was Saturday, April 15, at 4 p.m. at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home with the Revs. Donald DeLee and Bill Brown officiating.
Mr. Lemmond died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Adam's Health and Rehabilitation. He was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Morgan County to Cyrus Mason Lemmond and Jessie Sue Wallace Lemmond. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and worked as a supervisor at Russell Corporation at the No. 5 waste plant. He was a Braves baseball fan and Dale Murphy and Dizzy Dean were his favorite players. He loved gardening, his family and friends. He was a big jokester, went to Hardee's every morning, was good with a slingshot and went to Red's Catfish on Sundays. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis Lemmond; and two brothers, Willard Lemmond and J.L. Lemmond.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Lemmond; two sons, Dizzy Lemmond and wife Betty of Alexander City and Delmar Lemmond and wife Barbara of Texas; four grandchildren, Bridget Hand of Alexander City, Jamie Ayers of Sylacauga, Jason Lemmond of Texas and Michael Lemmond of Auburn; one great-grandchild, Mallory Ayers and one great grandson on the way; a sister, Lona Faye St. John and husband Junior of Somerville.
Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society, Mid South Division, Inc., 3054-C McGehee Road, Montgomery or West End Baptist Church, 3050 Old Dark Road, Alexander City.
