Police say man swallowed drugs

A Danville man was taken to Hartselle Medical Center after he swallowed drugs after being stopped by the Hartselle Police.
Michael Rodriquez, 32, of 586 Byrd Road, is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree in connection to the April 10 traffic stop.
Hartselle police stopped Rodriquez for speeding. During the stop, Rodriquez was found to have an outstanding warrant. Police searched the vehicle and found 6 grams of cocaine, 11 Phenobarbital pills and a small amount of marijuana.
While taking Rodriquez to the jail, officers noticed he was sweating profusely. Rodriquez allegedly told officers he had swallowed cocaine when he was stopped by police.
Rodriquez was taken to Hartselle Medical Center where he was treated and released.
He was later taken to Morgan County Jail on $15,000 bond.
