May 4, 1956 -Skipper Drinkard has been making big plans to attend a dance in Cullman tonight with his girl.
May 4, 1956 -Miss Frances Price, fourth grade teacher at the elementary school, took 36 students to Decatur today where they visited the Coca-Cola plant, the White Way dairy, the Highway Patrol office and the Morgan County jail.
May 5, 1956 -Hartselle has a lot of Yankee fans and they were beaming after today's televised game in which their favorite team got four homers-Mickey Mantle had two and Yogi Berra and Hank Bauer one each. The New Yorkers beat the A's 5-2.
May 5, 1956 -Hartselle residents John W. Campbell Sr. and Jr. drowned late this morning when the boat they were fishing from capsized in Tennessee River backwaters near Highway 31 and the causeway bridge.
May 6, 1956 -The fourth annual visitation was today at the Hartselle Cemetery.
May 7, 1956 -UA alumni here and elsewhere around the state are insisting on change in the football program. The Crimson Tide, currently coached by J. B. (Ears) Whitworth, didn't win a single game last season. On the plains, Auburn has to make cutbacks due to being placed on three years' probation by the NCAA for rules infractions.
May 8, 1956 -Installation of officers and a fine talk by Harold Orr on "What Industry and Business Expect of the School Graduate" were highlights at the final MCHS PTA meeting this afternoon.
May 9, 1956 -Local chapters of the Future Teachers of America had their semi-annual district meeting in Decatur this afternoon. Bill Stewart represented the MCHS group.
May 9, 1956 -Hartselle police this afternoon had a confession of one 12-year-old boy that implicated himself and four other youths in two burglary forays here.
The miscreant also revealed the existence here of a small gang (the "Blue Star" gang) of doubtful merit.
May 10 1956 -Complete and official election returns have incumbent Morgan County Board of Revenue Chairman Sim Howell facing challenger Guy D. Roberts in a runoff. Howell got 3,173 votes to 2,237 for Roberts.
