Funeral for Billie E. Bates Sr., 60, of Spring Lake, N.C. was Wednesday, June 7, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wendell Callahan officiating.
Burial was in Andrews Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Bates died Friday, June 2, 2006, at the VA Hospital in Spring Lake. He was born Sept. 26, 1945, in Morgan County to James Washington Bates and Myrtle Jones Bates. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by two sons, Billie Bates of Athens and Terry Bates of Moulton; three brothers, Franklin Gene Bates, James Bates Jr., and Washington Hall Bates; five sisters, Mattie Lorine Bates, Mary Louise Bates, Hazel Ruth Bates, Wilma Jean Bates and Jimmie Marie Bates; and a grandson, Jessie Bates of Athens.
