Funeral for Malcolm Obe Pevahouse Jr., 62, of Contonement, Fla., formerly of Hartselle, was Monday, June 5, at 10 a.m. at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Skaggs of Windy Hill Baptist Church and Bro. Matt Dunavant of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was in Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Pevahouse died June 1, 2006, unexpectedly of heart failure. While serving as head of the Food Pantry Ministry at Windy Hill Baptist Church, he died doing what he loved, collecting food from the Pensacola Bay Area Food Bank for those in need. He was also part of the clown ministry and a deacon at Windy Hill Baptist Church. He touched the lives of many as a Master Mason and chaplain of Ferry Pass Masonic Lodge 3348, a dedicated volunteer for the Council on Aging, a 40-year member of the Woodmen of the World fraternal organization, and a man who smoked the best ribs and brisket in town. He was retired from International Paper Company. He was preceded in death by his mother, Iris Pevahouse and a daughter, DaLana Pevahouse. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pat (Lois) Pevahouse of Contonement, Fla.; a son, Michael Pevahouse of Contonement, Fla.; a daughter, Daphne Madden and husband Robert Jr. of Pensacola, Fla.; his father, Malcolm Pevahouse Sr. of Falkville; mother-in-law, Maggie Blevins of Contonement, Fla.; two brothers, Arthur Pevahouse and wife Reba of Joppa and Richard Pevahouse and wife Pam of Bunker Hill, W. Va.; a sister, Susan Smith and husband Mike of Falkville; seven nieces and nephews; countless friends; and beloved poodles, KC and Lacey.
Pallbearers and Masonic Rites were provided by the Zone 1 Masonic Memorial Team. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Broaddus, Shannon Boles, Jason Boles, Glenn Wass and Brother of Ferry Pass #348 F&AM.
