Town of Falkville May 2 Town Council meeting

Present: Billy Evans, Ronnie Thomas, Larry Madison, Barbara Vinson, Teresa Barbee, Eric Sawyer, Bennie Weaver, Belinda Ealey
Mayor Jimmie Walker called the May 2 town council meeting to order.
Roll Call: Fowler, Thompson, Walker, Edmondson and Wilson present. Stiles absent.
Approval of the April 4, 2006 town council meeting minutes
No discussion. Edmondson moved for approval of the April 4 town council meeting minutes. Second by Wilson. All voted yea. Motion carried.
Approval of the April 25 work session meeting minutes
No discussion. Thompson moved for approval of the April 25 work session meeting minutes. Second by Edmondson. All voted yea. Motion carried.
Motion to change the regular June town council meeting to June 13. No discussion. Thompson moved to change the regular June town council meeting to June 13. Second by Wilson. All voted yea. Motion carried.
Motion to give the town clerk permission to open a checking account at Community Bank, entitled Corrections Fund: and to transfer fund accordingly from the Municipal Court Fund.

Motion for approval of the Police Department–SOP Manual. No discussion. Thompson moved for approval of the SOP Manual for the Police Department. Second by Wilson. All voted yea. Motion carried.
Motion to appropriate funds in the amount of $275 to the American Red Cross.
No discussion. Thompson moved to appropriate funds in the amount of $275 to the American Red Cross. Second by Fowler. Madison advised they would need a contract with the American Red Cross to appropriate these funds. All voted yea. Motion carried.
Water tap and set meter at Falkville High School Softball Field. Thompson moved to waive the fees associated with the connection of the water tap and meter at the Falkville High School Softball Field. Second by Wilson. All voted yea. Motion carried.
Motion for salary adjustments. Fowler moved that the Town give all full time employees who have passed their probation period a 5 percent wage increase with the exception of the Police Chief and Wilda Jeffers. The chief's wages are spelled out in the original motion when he was hired and therefore is not covered in this motion, and Wilda Jeffers has received some specialized training and added job responsibilities in which an 8 percent increase is recommended; with an effective date of May 6, 2006. Second by Thompson. All voted yea. Motion carried.

Thompson: Reported Community Pride would be sponsoring a blood drive on May 12.
Edmondson: No report.
Wilson: No report.
Barbara Vinson and Teresa Barbee reported that someone was taking the flowers off of graves at the city cemetery. They also inquired about the mowing and made logged complaints about the high grass.
Bennie Weaver announced Kid's Day was June 18. No further business to come before the Mayor and Council; Edmondson moved and second by Wilson for adjournment. Meeting adjourned.
