County receives business grant
By Staff
Morgan County is among three counties receiving grant money from the state.
Morgan, Cullman and Lawrence counties will be receiving a $200,000 grant to provide capital for fledgling businesses in three counties.
The North Central Alabama Regional Council of Governments will put the grant into its revolving loan fund. The fund, which supplements commercial bank loans, assists entrepreneurs in starting and expanding small businesses.
In addition to helping new companies get off the ground, the fund provides capital for expansion to companies up to five years old. Council officials say the fund will stimulate the regional economy by creating as many as 60 jobs or more.
