Don't spoil your family

Dear Mom's Corner,
I enjoy your articles each week and I have a question about your Rainy Day Snickerdoodles Recipe. The recipe calls for two eggs twice and I just want to clarify it is two or four eggs before I use the recipe.
Thank You,
Mattie Tucker, Jasper
Dear Mattie,
I'm sorry for the confusion. I goofed in the proofing of that article obviously! The recipe calls for just two eggs. Thank you in calling the mistake to my attention.
Speaking of things like Snickerdoodles, I've come to the conclusion I've spoiled my family. I really didn't realize how spoiled they were until a few weeks ago when I wasn't feeling well and I did something I thought was going to cause a revolution in our house. The kids were horrified! One of my daughters actually said, "Momma, you didn't buy those did you?" What did I buy that was so terrible? Believe it or not, it was brown and serve rolls! Yes, brown and serve rolls.
You see, I make many things homemade often times simply because it's cheaper than their convenience counterparts, but more often than not it's because my family prefers my homemade to store bought.
For example, I made the mistake of making true homemade melted butter brownies one time. Well, now nothing else will do. The last time I purchased a brownie mix I thought I was going to have to move into the doghouse!
You'd thought I'd committed a crime!
Of course, for some things it's just easier for me to keep the ingredients on hand than it is for me to try to remember to buy the mixes all the time.
For example rolls, pizza crust, piecrust, fried piecrusts, turnover crusts all have about the same type of ingredients. I just keep staples on hand like flour, salt, yeast, baking soda and powder, etc. I also keep powdered milk on hand for use in bread making.
However, last weekend I made a boo-boo. We ran out of microwave popcorn.
This wouldn't have been a problem, but we were having a family popcorn and movie night. Luckily, we had some of the regular -what my kids call "old fashioned"- popcorn.
So I grabbed a pan, a lid, some oil, salt and butter and went at it and in no time at all we had popcorn. In fact, it even surprised me how fast I whipped up a bowl of popcorn. Unfortunately, the kids liked it better than the microwave kind! Good grief – why me?
