Ponytails still in hunt for state title

EUFAULA – The Hartselle Ponytails All-Stars were 2-1 in their first three games at the state tournament in Eufaula this past weekend. They were one of three teams still alive in the tournament as of Monday night.

Dothan 3
Hartselle had little trouble with Dothan, knocking out the team who was last year's Ponytails World Series champion.
Hartselle trailed 1-0 after one inning but rallied with three runs in the top of the second and cruised from there. Jessi Livingston hit a double and Kayla Faulk and Liz Terry each had two singles.
Third round game
Hartselle 4
Pleasant Grove 2
Sunday, Hartselle scored the winning run in the fifth inning, breaking a 2-all tie with two runs. The winning pitcher was Liz Terry, who had four strikeouts for Hartselle.
Picking up hits were Olivia Golden, who had a double and a single; Kelly Grace Johnson, who hit a triple; Arin Eddy, who doubled; Kayla Faulk, who hit a single; Tori Miller, who singled; Jessie Livingston, who hit a single; and Ali Staudt, who singled.
First round game

Hartselle 1
Hartselle had a tough time of it in its opener, scoring its only run in the top of the second inning on a single by Liz Terry, a stolen base, an error and an RBI groundout by Ali Staudt.
Hartselle had a bye in the second round.
