A Hartselle woman was killed and her infant injured in what police are calling a hit and run just outside the city limits.
Carrie Vanessa Rush, 39, was killed sometime around 11:30 p.m. July 24 as she pushed her child in a stroller along Highway 31. Decatur police found Rush's body in the median after they responded to a call of a woman pushing a stroller along the highway towards Hartselle. Officers said Rush had apparently been hit by a driver that apparently fled the scene.
Officers found the child, Phoenix Rush, 1, still in its stroller. He was taken to Huntsville Hospital where he was listed in stable condition at presstime. According to the Hartselle Police Department, Rush had been arrested for a DUI the previous week.
Decatur police are asking anyone with information on the case to call 341-INFO or 341-4636.
