Aug. 10, 1956 -The new Hartselle Methodist superannuate home was dedicated tonight. Local participants were pastor Rev. E. M. Barnes, Jr.; Decatur district treasurer John Cooper; and the chairman of the local committee for the home, Dr. Fred Sherrill, Jr.
Aug. 11, 1956 -Hartselle citizens who have volunteered to work in the upcoming constitutional amendment referendum include Italyne Hardwick, Mayor John Burleson, J. V. Henderson, Launa Pattillo, Phil Orr, Gladys E. Peck, John T. Kyle, F. O. Sherrill, L. N. Whitman, Johnny Cain, Cecil Higginbotham, W. M. Cost, A. A. Oden, Eula Dunaway, Lola Mae Betterton, G. A. Aug.12, 1956 -Along with other Morgan County Democratic activists, Gene Brindley Horton of Hartselle left today for Chicago where she will be a page at the party's national convention.
Aug. 12, 1956 -Mr. and Mrs. Guy Roberts entertained members of Mrs. Roberts' family with an al fresco supper tonight in the yard of their beautiful home on Nanceford Road.
Aug. 13, 1956 -The Morgan County Exchange, a farmer's cooperative, held its annual meeting here today at MCHS. Bobby Cain and his TV band provided the entertainment.

Aug. 14, 1956 -Robert Newton, an accountant at Mitchell Industries, received only minor scratches when a tree fell on his car tonight.
Aug. 15, 1956 -Friends here will be glad to know that P. W. Barclift of Haleyville (formerly of Hartselle) is resting well after undergoing an emergency appendectomy last night.
August 15, 1956 -One of Hartselle's oldest citizens, Mrs. Mattie Nunn, age 92, died at her home tonight following a long illness. Mrs. Nunn, who was born in 1864, the last full year of the Civil War, was a member of the McKendree Methodist Church for 74 years.
Aug. 16, 1956 -Rev. E. M. Barnes, local Methodist pastor, has been in Arab this week conducting a revival.
Aug. 16, 1956 -Mrs. Dorothy Cordar and brother Bill are now back at home following a 10-day visit with relatives in Texas.
