Funeral for Maudie Nixon, 96, of Hartselle was Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Davis officiating.
Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Mrs. Nixon died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 6, 1909, in Morgan County to John Ludwig Riethmaier and Hattie Ladora Riethmaier. She was a homemaker and attended Deer Springs Baptist Church. She was the last survivor of the original first grade class of F. E. Burleson Elementary School.
She is survived by two sons, James C. Nixon and Jimmy W. Nixon, both of Hartselle; two daughters, Shirley Fay Slack and Betty M. Thompson, both of Hartselle; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Nixon, Steven Nixon, Audie Morris, Travis Peats, Dannie Tillman and Wayne Wascavage.
