A memorial service for Robert Lee (Bob) Leopard, 66, of Somerville was Sunday, August 13, at 3 p.m. at Somerville United Methodist Church with the Revs. Vandon Windsor and John Walker officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Leopard died Thursday, August 10, 2006, at his residence. He was born September 10, 1939, in Athens. He was a graduate of Athens High School and the University of Montevallo. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was retired from Solutia, Inc. (formerly Monsanto Co.) as a designer. He was an active member of Somerville United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and on various committees. He volunteered his expertise and labor for many improvement projects for the church. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge 721 of Somerville.
Mr. Leopard leaves a rich legacy although he lived a simple but fulfilling life of serving the Lord, loving and providing for his family and utilizing his ability and creative talents to help others. He designed their house and he and his wife labored together to build it. They enjoyed its unique beauty, landscaping, organic gardening and maintaining the natural surroundings for the past 23 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Ida Bailey Leopard.
He is a survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Malinda Barrett Bailey; a son, Michael Lee Leopard of Athens; a brother, Bailey Leopard Sr. and wife LaVelle of Franklin, Tenn.; a sister, Nancy Cutts Presley and husband Bill of Athens; two nieces, Louise Leopard Wachsman and husband Harvey of Pelham and Becky Leopard of Franklin, Tenn.; a nephew, Bailey Leopard Jr. and wife Katy and their children, Grady, Wallace and Nonie of Memphis, Tenn.
