Hartselle man killed in wreck

A Hartselle man was killed and his father injured in a one-vehicle accident on Ironman Road Monday afternoon.
Kenneth G. Garrison 58, suffered fatal injuries when the pickup truck in which he was a passenger left the roadway and overturned in a ditch between Jacks Road and Wynn Jacks Road at approximately 1:50 p.m., according to a state troopers report.
His father, Marshall Garrison, 82, the driver of the pickup, was injured. He was transported by ambulance to Hartselle Medical Center. Troopers reported he was wearing a seat belt.
The accident occurred at about 1:50 p.m. as Garrison and his son were traveling west toward Neel. Garrison’s death was caused by blunt trauma to the head and chest, according to Assistant Morgan County Coroner David Parks. He was trapped inside the truck and pneumatic cutting tools had to be used to free his body. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to state troopers.
