Marie Echols Smith

Funeral for Marie Echols Smith, 85, of Hartselle was Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Penn and Joe Mann officiating,
Burial was in Friendship Cemetery near Danville.
Mrs. Smith died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Decatur. She was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Cullman County to John Echols and Pearl Lee Echols. She attended Faith Baptist Church in Decatur and most recently Liberty Baptist Church in Hartselle. She was actively involved in church work throughout her life. She taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir, played the piano and offered her home and hospitality to her many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Bob” Smith.
She is survived by a sister, Opaline South of Addison, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Sam Nunn, Joe Mann, George Waddell, Steve Steele, Ben VanKoughnett and Norman Guthery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to child advocacy centers in Morgan and Cullman counties.
